Silk, Flax & Canvas: An Artistic Journey



🇬🇧 Local artists Inna Lymar and Michelle Brown have collaborated for 'Silk, Flax and Canvas’, the first 01625 Gallery installation of 2025, to create a textural explosion that demonstrates their varied artistic techniques. Part of the installation honours talented Macclesfield designer Edith Buxton, and the other part of it is a heartfelt visual thank you to the Macclesfield community for welcoming them to what they say is one of the most creative places they've ever lived. Ukrainian-born Inna extends a special thank you to Macclesfield and her host family for providing refuge for her and her daughter during a challenging time.


The materials and techniques used reflect both artist's creativity and familiarity with fabrics, acrylics and flowers. They chose silk to symbolize the exquisite craftsmanship of Macclesfield, and flax from Ukraine transformed into linen, which represents the bond with their heritage.


Michelle and Inna are available for workshops, commissions, installations and events decor displays.

🇺🇦 Місцеві художниці Інна Лимар і Мішель Браун співпрацювали над «Шовком, льоном і полотном», першою інсталяцією галереї 01625 у 2025 році, щоб створити текстурний вибух, який демонструє різноманітні художні техніки. Частина інсталяції вшановує талановитого дизайнера Маклсфілда Едіт Бакстон, а інша частина — це щира візуальна подяка спільноті Маклсфілда за те, що вони прийняли їх у, як вони кажуть, одне з найкреативніших місць, у яких вони коли-небудь жили. Інна, яка народилася в Україні, висловлює особливу подяку Маклсфілд та її приймаючій родині за те, що вони надали притулок для неї та її дочки у важкий час.

Використані матеріали та техніки відображають як творчість художника, так і знайомство з тканинами, акрилом та квітами. Вони обрали шовк, щоб символізувати вишукану майстерність Маклсфілда, а український льон перетворився на льон, що символізує зв’язок із їхньою спадщиною.


Мішель та Інна відкриті до співпраці: вони проводять воркшопи, створюють інсталяції, виконують індивідуальні замовлення та займаються оформленням подій.

The 01625 Gallery is a micro art gallery in two listed red K6 telephone boxes outside Macclesfield Town Hall, established in 2022.

Funded by Macclesfield Town Council, this micro gallery is right on the high street, ready for you to enjoy whenever you’re visiting the town centre or passing by!
